Dual 200 HP electric driven with 2 stage Ro-Flo 210M/8DE
A Robust and Efficient Low-Pressure Solution
The low pressure rotary vanes have a maximum working pressure of 80 psig, and the smaller displacement high-pressure units are designed for discharge pressures up to 200 psig. Rotary vane compressors are jacket water cooled, allowing the heat of compression to be transferred away from the process gas inside the unit, and allowing a higher compression ratio than would otherwise be possible. The use of jacket water cooling in place of an oil-flooded housing can be an asset when contamination of a closed-loop lube oil system is a concern. This, coupled with double bellows shaft seals and continuous lube oil injection make the rotary vane ideal for wet, heavy, and sour gas applications.
Understanding the Fundamentals
Given their jacket water cooling, many of the dewpoint concerns present in designing screw compressor systems are present. Controlling temperature inside the compression chamber is essential. Rotary vane compressors can be extremely effective in appropriate conditions, but their limitations are primarily flow and pressure related. These machines truly are designed to operate in low flow, low discharge applications. The price impact of adding double bellow seal shafts for sour service is substantial, and a two-stage system doesn’t benefit significantly from economies of scale or scope. Unlike adding a cylinder to a reciprocating frame, a second stage on a vane is an entire additional compressor and lube system, though it can share the driver using a throughput shaft.
Expert Advice and Experienced Packaging
NEXT understands compression, and we know what’s best for our customers. There are applications where rotary vane compressors are the only logical solution. There are other applications where it simply isn’t the best fit. We’ve seen times where a screw or a reciprocating alternative could work, but fleet standardization and field service familiarity meant a vane was the preferred solution. At NEXT, we have the expertise necessary to package an exceptional rotary vane compressor, but we also have the knowledge to know when it is the best fit. Contact NEXT for your compression requirements, and we’ll see that you get the best solution available.
