MATEP – Fuel Gas Booster

Overview

NEXT Compression – then operating under the legacy title, SAGE Energy – was retained by MATEP to design and fabricate a critical service fuel gas screw compressor booster package to feed a Solar Titan 130 turbine powering a major hospital in the Northeastern United States.

Design Considerations

• Pressure boost from 4 to 415 PSIG (28 to 2,862 kPag)
• Limited package dimensional footprint available on a rooftop, surrounded by additional power generation equipment
• Fire suppression and building attenuation required

Final Product

NEXT was able to achieve an economical solution that met the challenging dimensional footprint requirements of the rooftop installation.  The large pressure differential required an efficient, high compression ratio solution. NEXT successfully addressed the challenge in engineering a unique, dual-screw-in-series solution.
