Extensive customer design specifications for compression of sour gas
Overview
Wood PLC (Three Streams Engineering Division) on behalf of Cenovus Energy retained NEXT Compression to supply one (1) produced sour gas compressor for their casing gas facility in NE Alberta. This reciprocating package operates in series with a NEXT rotary screw booster compressor package.

Final Product
The compressor system was designed as a main skid with an off-skid aerial process cooler. The compressor train was housed in a oilfield style building that included a comprehensive building electrical and instrumentation package designed to simplify operability and maintenance, as well as extensive process instrumentation and piping insulation to ensure safety during operation.
The package was installed in conjunction with a rotary screw package, which was also manufactured by NEXT. These units were designed to replace excess produced gas from the Owner reservoirs. The purpose of this package was to re-inject the casing gas back into the reservoir to minimize H2S production and reduce the casing gas load to the central processing facility.
Once arrived at the field, the compressor train and aerial cooler skid will be connected and commissioned by NEXT Compression.
