Vapor Recovery (VRU)
Vapor Recovery generally refers to the recovery of hydrocarbons (rich gas vapors) evaporating from liquid petroleum during storage and handling. A Vapor Recovery Unit captures the gas coming off the crude oil or condensate tanks (or other site equipment), and compresses the vapors for injection into a piping system.
The term “VRU” doesn’t guarantee anything about the process, but we often generalize VRU gas as having a high inlet temperature, high specific gravity, and a non-continuous flow. For these reasons, flexibility and cooling are paramount in designing these systems.
NEXT Compression has packaged and designed VRU systems across a wide horsepower range with rotary screw, rotary vane, and reciprocating compressors. Contact us with your operating conditions, and we’ll find a fit for you.
Propane Refrigeration is typically used to provide cooling to aid in the removal of liquids from natural gas. Using a closed-loop, propane gas is compressed. The hot, high pressure gas passes through a condenser where it is cooled and partially liquified, then across an expansion valve, where the sudden pressure drop will further cool the propane. The cold liquid enters the evaporator and absorbs heat from the natural gas. As the propane absorbs heat, it evaporates and re-enters the compressor as propane vapor. Variable ambient temperatures and refrigeration (flow) requirements means the propane compressor needs to be able to handle a broad operating range.
NEXT Compression has an extensive history with screw compressors in Propane Refrigeration. Our scope of supply can be as narrow as a driver and compressor, to the entire refrigeration loop. Contact us with your refrigeration requirements, and we’ll design something that works for you.
Fuel Gas compression refers to the critical application of meeting and maintaining the high pressure fuel-supply for a turbine. In the event of a failure on this compressor, the plant powered by the turbine can’t operate. The magnitude of this responsibility is the driving force behind the premium quality parts and ingenious control algorithms that go into every one of our fuel gas boosters.
NEXT Compression is a recognized leader in servicing Combined Heat and Recovery (CHP), Cogeneration, Combined Cycle Power Plants (CCPP), and Combined Cycle Gas Turbines (CCGT). Contact us with your requirements; we’re confident we can deliver on your critical applications.
